On March 12th, Mike from the Gardens Group came to talk about the benefits, real and supposed of the technique known as ‘Companion Planting’. He spoke well, as he always has done, and fought back the urge to base his offering on how we could be persuaded to pass through the doors of Brimsmore Garden Centre and spend lots of money. Calendula and tagetes were recommended for their ability to counter invasive weeds and deter equally annoying whitefly.
Surprisingly he made no mention of soil warmth testing with a companion!
